Disaster Management Design in Tunnels for u-City Embodiment

This paper displays how to derive the factors of Ubiquitous Sensor Network (hereafter, USN) technology that comprise inspection, plan, construction and maintenance ahead of launching construction of intercity highways that are the key to civil constructions for urbanization. And it also shows the plan of USN technologies currently adopted in each process of construction areas, grouped into Tunnels. Ultimately accidents shall diminish and the rapid reaction to accidents will be also taken by continuously monitoring tunnels through USN accident/disaster prevention system. Tunnels also take advantage from USN monitoring system. All fire alarms or other alarming devices are automatically activated, as well as extra emergency steps are promptly taken, when either instability of the tunnel structure or fire in the tunnel is detected. Finally, the General Monitoring Center manages all the data and information from the system. Eventually, this report strongly tells us that the USN is currently the most feasible system monitoring accidents/disasters and also contains system plans, measuring sensors and layouts to support it. It also aims to present the practical procedure of Uconstruction & u-City through the design plan of Ubiquitous System and Overall Monitoring System based on the master plan of tunnels traversing Seoul to Munsan, and become a cornerstone for everlasting advance of U-construction & u-City as well.
